Annual Village Barn Dance 21/09/19

In its’ 7th year and still going strong! As soon as the tickets went on sale, they were snapped up…… a sold-out event!  200 enthusiastic dancers, young and old, took to the floor of the Tithe Barn eager to dosey doe, promenade and swing their partners to the sounds of Whirling Skirmish.  The Tithe Barn venue was kindly donated by Valerie and John Arthur; very much appreciated.

The proceeds from the dance will go towards the maintenance and preservation of St Mary’s Church.  This year’s dance profit was £2300, money raised goes towards the current repairs that we are carrying out. Current projects are plaster work in the Chancel, stone masonry work to the buttresses and repair and masonry work to 2 vestry windows, which on their own will cost over £6000.  Without everyone who supports our events, we couldn’t preserve our beautiful church.

A huge thank you to all who attended the event and made it such a great night.  Thank you to our wonderful raffle donors; Co-Op Lenham, Lenham Village Stores, The Bow Window, The Fig Tree, Phase Hair and Beauty, Lenham Film Club, Chilston Hotel and Lavender Kings!  Also, the donors for our brilliant auction were, Lenham Square Design, Upcycled Trading Company, J A Boyd and Mike Bromley, again we thank you. Without all your support we could not continue to carry out these necessary works.  Hopefully we will be back in 2020 – watch out for announcement of the date!

The Barn dance 2019 in full swing!
