The churchyard was closed at the beginning of the twentieth century and many of the tombs have weathered with time. Those on the north side are the most ancient, dating back to the early eighteenth century and those on the south side are chiefly Victorian. A project by the Lenham Heritage Society to record the graves and their inscriptions is currently in progress.
The churchyard has four old yew trees, at least one dating back 300-400 years; on the site believed to be of a very ancient yew, another was planted to celebrate the millennium in 2000.
