How you can help

We depend on donations, membership fees and money we raise at events in order to carry out our improvement projects.

Can you help us count the pounds and the pennies?

Following the impending retirement of our current Treasurer, Tom Lee, who is calling time on his excellent years of involvement with us, we are actively looking for a new Treasurer to take Tom’s place.  The role involves managing our accounts and our membership records, reconciling bank accounts and paying suppliers. Tom will of course assist the new Treasurer with a full handover.

We’re a keen group of volunteers who meet on a monthly basis (via Zoom at present of course!) and we need someone to join our team who shares our enthusiasm for ensuring that the church building is still standing in another 1000 years.

To volunteer for this post, find out more about what’s involved or if you know of anyone who might be interested, please get in touch with Andrew Barr by email at andrewbarr@eastlenhamfarm.co.uk or by phoning 07543 250686.

Become a Friend

By becoming a Friend of St Mary’s, your annual subscription will go towards our vital work to maintain the church building. You’ll be actively taking part in preserving part of Lenham’s wonderful heritage. Individual membership is £15 per year or £25 for a family. As a member, we’ll keep you up to date with our work, you’ll hear all about events that we’re planning and you’ll have the opportunity to attend our Annual General Meeting and have your say about our work. If you would like to become a member of the Friends of St Mary’s, please contact our Membership Secretary, John Arthur Boyd, either by e-mail at enquiries@friendsofstmaryslenham.org or at his address Court Lodge Farm, High Street, Lenham, Kent ME17 2QD.

Volunteer

We have a great team of ten trustees (and their wonderfully supportive spouses, partners and friends), but we’re always looking for more people to help us run our events, especially the annual barn dance. Please get in touch with us via our Contact Us page, if you think you have any time to spare to volunteer with us.

Donations and legacies

We are also delighted to receive donations in support of our efforts. A generous grant from the Hatch Charity, for instance, made possible the publication of the new church history, sales of which have already enabled us to raise several hundred pounds. Donations may be sent to our Membership Secretary, John Arthur Boyd, Court Lodge Farm, High Street, Lenham, Kent, ME17 2QD. Please make cheques out to the “The Friends of St Mary’s Lenham”.

A legacy is another way in which you could help. It not only helps assure the Friends of St Mary’s future, but, as we are a registered charity, it carries tax advantages. For advice, please consult your solicitor.
