Supper Quiz, 2025

We held a Supper Quiz on the 5th April at Lenham Community Centre.  A sell out event, the hall was packed with 110 keen quizzers, who made up 15 teams. With five rounds of questions on topics covering general knowledge, food & drink, people & places and entertainment, there was certainly something for everyone. The Pot Luck round was particularly fun – we found out that an octopus has 3 hearts, the national animal of Scotland is the Unicorn and the most common UK pub name is The Red Lion!

In addition to the five rounds of questions, teams were kept busy by a picture round and a puzzle round to complete at their table. Liz Cocker was in charge of asking the questions and she did an excellent job of keeping us all on track. The team in last place were awarded a tin of sardines each (brain food!) and a Friends of St Mary’s magnet. It was very close at the top of the leader board, but the Tanyard Teacakes just clinched the top spot, winning mini bottles of Prosecco and magnets!

We provided a fabulous ploughman’s supper during the first break, prepared by team members Gill Simes and Hannah Goodwin, assisted by Jo Glazebrook of Kent Loves… Chairman Andrew Barr spoke about the importance of our work to maintain St Mary’s and encouraged attendees who aren’t yet members to join the Friends.  We held a great raffle during the second break, with prizes of 6 bottles of Chapel Down fizz and still wine, a bottle of whiskey, a lovely hamper and afternoon tea for 2 at Chilston Park.

Win or lose, everyone seemed to have a wonderful evening! We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who supported and attended the event and made it such a superb sell-out night.  In addition, grateful thanks to the hardworking team of volunteers who set up and then cleared the hall.

We are extremely happy to report that the quiz raised over £1,500.
