The Friends of St Mary’s Church, Lenham was established in 2013 by a small group of local residents wanting to help preserve the fabric of St Mary’s, the beautiful church that lies in the heart of the village. We are a charitable organisation registered with the Charity Commission (number 1160993).
2. Our commitment to your privacy
The privacy and security of your personal information is extremely important to us. We will never sell your personal data to a third party. We respect your privacy and work hard to ensure that we meet regulatory requirements.
We’ll always protect your personal data and, as part of this, we will regularly review our privacy notice so that you can see how we use your data and what your options are. If there are any changes to the ‘General Data Protection Regulation’ (or GDPR) or related laws, we may need to amend this statement in the future.
3. What kind of personal data we collect and how we collect it
We will collect basic information about you, including your name, postal address, telephone number, email address and your bank details if you are supporting us financially. We’ll collect this data from you directly. Sometimes this is in person at a social event or when you sign up to help us; other times, it may be over the telephone, in writing or through an email.

However, if you volunteer with us, then we may need to collect extra information about you, for example, references, criminal records checks, details of emergency contacts or details of medical conditions. There may also be a requirement to collect sensitive personal data in case of an accident on our property. When you sign up to become a Friend of St Mary’s Church, we use the personal data you provide to give you a positive experience as a valued contributor to our work. This includes providing you with information about our Annual General Meeting, sending you regular updates about our work and sending renewal information to you by mail or email.
We will never sell your personal information or share it with any third parties for marketing purposes. Where you have chosen to support us financially, we may need to pass your details to your bank, for example, when you opt to pay us by Standing Order.

We want to keep our Friends, donors and volunteers safe and so the security of your personal information is very important to us. We keep electronic data and databases stored on secure computer systems and we control who has access to your information. Any paper records are kept securely.
We will only use and store your information for as long as it is required for the purposes it was collected for. How long it will be stored for depends on the information in question, what it is being used for and, sometimes, statutory legal requirements. We continually review what information we hold and delete what is no longer required.
